Rec-O-very Therapy
We are all recovering from something:
Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Addictions, Depressions, Self-Doubt, et cetera... So Why Do It Alone?
Paddle & Play Coaching
Although all of the coaching can be done virtually, either on.the phone or zoom, what separates the paddle and play program from other therapeutic offerings is that you have the option of building an in person relationship which can include any number of recreational offerings from sailing to kayaking or hiking to a simple walk in the park. Know that we want our program to be engaging and enjoyable, but also accessible and inclusive for individuals of any and all ability levels, so as your coach I will work with you to personalize your program by working with you to pick an activity that enhances the therapeutic relationship and models healthy living. As your coach I bring with me two decades of experience both as an endurance athletic trainer as well as a professional marathoner runner, an adaptive recreational provider, and a certified wellness coach. I am more than happy to work with you in creating a personalized program that promotes proper nutrition while exploring and encouraging healthy non-intimidating exercise that supports you at any stage of your journey. We use shared recreational activities as tools to help individuals explore maladaptive life patterns which are inhibitive to one's ability to lead a productive and purposeful life.

I come to these sessions with years pf experience working with a diversity of individuals either experiencing a developmental and/or physical disability or struggling with any number of mental illness. I served for 3 years as the Chaplian and assistant manager of an addiction recovery program in Santa Cruz and after being ordained as a Presbyterian minister I completed my clinical pastoral education at the University of Louisville hospital where I specialized in psychiatric and palliative care. Please take a moment to listen to past episodes of my Podcast or read a few articles thatI I have published related to my personal history overcoming an eating disorder. Both can be found on the menu at the top of this page. I also value self empowerment and inclusion in all of my work and I am the founder of both Urban Works Santa Cruz and Runpossible Louisville.
